If you’ve posted on the topic of separatism and you seem to be pro-inclusion or you come off as being a non-extreme separatist, the you may have had an encounter with a troll named “Just Jennifer.” She seems to pass her time either blog rants which are basically one long ad hom attack. She seems to get her kicks by miss-gendering people (she calls me “Mr. ‘Cristan’ Williams”), creating ad hom attacks, quote mining and setting up strawman arguments. If you’ve critiqued separatism or dared to not obediently rubber stamp myths about the origin of trans terms, you’ve probably had the misfortune of having her preform her troll dance on your blog.
If you’ve tried to talk with her, you’ll quickly find that she will never actually address the subject you’re commenting about. She’ll only ever respond with a strawman argument and wrap up with an ad hom attack. She evades addressing anything meaningful by tap-dancing around the actual topic of discussion. She does it so much, I’ve dubbed her rhetorical side-stepping, the “Jennifer Shuffle.”
If you are one of the people she’s trolled, I thought it would generally make the intertubes a better place if instead of trying to engage her, you simply respond with posting the following into your response:
The Jennifer Shuffle is a troll dance that side-steps addressing the actual topic. Instead of feeding her, try posting this once and then either banning her or not responding to her further.
Lastly, while I know folks who’ve dropped her docs, I’m not interested in propagating that, so please don’t reply with that stuff.
Again, thank you for letting everyone know how much I have upset you by challenging your assertions. As someone once said, the weaker the arguments, the louder the insults. Clearly you have no arguments, and have had to resort to be silliest of arguments. I actually take that as a compliment though I know it is not intended that way.
And the Jennifer Shuffle continues…
See? Now I get to ban her 🙂
Jennifer Usher? OMG I remember her! I remember her from back when she frequented the crossdresser forums, calling herself "more than a transvestite but not quite a transexual"! Is she still living in that slum in the Tenderloin?
Jennifer has never met a person she doesn't hate.
OMG!!!!
This is the first time I googled this poor person. Until this moment, I didn't understand just how many long-term problems she's had.
Isn't it funny how so many people in the trans community have mental and emotional issues? Self-hatred is the root cause of why those people hate others.
I should probably caution you with regards to using terms like "the trans community", as it seems to really irk those who do not identify as transgender. They refer to such terms as "colonization".
In the other hand, when someone is obsessed with "the trans community", reading and commenting on trans-related blogs, and obsessively writing about members of the trans community in their own blog, how can they deny being a part of this community? It seems like "the trans community" and all things transgender occupy a disproportionayely large part of these separatists' minds. One might also say that they have forced themselves on the trans community! Talk about colonization!!!
Self-hatred does seem to be the key. If these people have undergone such successful transitions and truly are the feminine beings that they claim to be, then why is it that they seem unable or unwilling to cut their ties to the trans community? They certainly aren't here to lend a helping hand. If anything, their purpose seems to be to discourage and demean those who are trying to find themselves. To them, everyone is suspect, especially those who transition later in life (like beyond the age of 4). But don't look too close at the accusers, or you will find that they also transitioned later in life, after a lifetime of crossdressing and spending lots of time online in crossdressing-related forums.
Can you imagine how horrible it must be to spend so much time, money, and effort on transition, only to find your dream is still so far out of reach because people still look at you and see a man? To be regarded as a transvestite and have to explain that you are a post op transsexual woman? To have a gruff, masculine voice that gives you away every time you open your mouth? That can really wear on a person emotionally, and it turns some people into trolls like Jennifer. It isn't her fault that people regard her as a crossdresser– it's the fault of the crossdressers for existing, and everyone who is out and proud TG, because if such people didn't exist, then others would obviously see that Jennifer and others like her are real women!
That's fine. Those who do not identify as being a part of the trans community can say so in the survey 🙂
Except that it requires an email, so no.
Yes, otherwise it would be easier for one person to submit numerous submissions.
This makes the most sense out of everything I've read so far. I wish every separatist out there would read your words!
Cristan,
You may possibly be aware that Ms. Usher is not actually a member of any trans community so much as she is a member of the mental health community of San Francisco. Ms. Usher has been, and this is fully documented o the web, living in assisted housing for the homeless since I believe 2004. She was able to maintain some part time employment with a local state university through a workfare type program but as of last October lost it because she had been found out to be using her University work computer to threaten various transgender people with being outed. ( See : http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=201006… "Jennifer Usher: Cyberstalking a transsexual from work is allowed" )
It's sad when any member of our community has to go through psychological turmoil but it is sadder still when they refuse treatment and a tragedy when their self-hatred causes them to turn on their own brothers and sisters. Ms. Usher is deserving far more of our pity than our hatred.
Yes, I wasn't aware of the extent of the problems she seems to have until very recently. I'm no longer interacting with her as it seems to support/evoke some fairly unbeneficial behavior.
There are many others who also need help and they are familiar names within our community. I do agree it's a shame when these people just don't feel right because of depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues, but we and others outside our community have to live among these people and it would behoove them to seek the proper help needed before everyone points them out as "just another crazy tranny" and assumes we're all like that.
From time to time, i check on what Usher is up to – who Usher has attacked and insulted.
Nothing changes with that troll.
Usher believes that Usher – and Usher alone – has the right to determine who is and is not transsexual. If found wanting by Usher, pre- or post-op, that person is attacked. This has gone on for years. One can only assume it will go on for many more – at least until California cuts back its budget again and Usher is once more homeless. I am one of the many Usher has thus attacked over the years. That list of victims is a very long one..
"Pity"? No. While I would generally have pity for those who have obvious mental issues and live in places like the "Vice hotel" I have none for Usher. Usher has hurt too many and continues to hurt more.
