While I’m dilating, I thought I would make a quick blog post. What has been on my mind as of late has been the TG Center.

Here is a picture of it right now. It has a huge tent over it to fumigate any termite problems:

I am getting more and more excited about the place and what we all will be able to do out of it. I am really excited about the library/archive too.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been trying to acquire items of historical value for the archive. I have been able to pick up some really amazing things. It will be so great to be able to connect with our history!

I addition to all of the historical items for the library, we picked up an antique round, claw-foot oak table, oriental rug and two antique display cases. We also picked up a new flat-screen TV for the library. (Dee: I’ll get those blank DVDs to you ASAP!)

For the conference room, we were able to pick up an antique mahogany table and chairs and another oriental rug.

We picked up dishes, cups, towels and a painting for over the fireplace today too.

FYI: For those of you looking to donate things, here is what we need:

– WORKING washer and drier

– Tasteful paintings by transgender artists

– Transgender books for the library

– Items of historical value to the Houston TG community

I want to thank Dee and Caisha for their donations of specific items that are in excellent working order. Lilly said that she had some books to donate as well : )

We also picked up a quality projector (now the community has one!!!) and a large movie screen for movies and presentations.

I will meet with the contractor Tuesday afternoon to go over all of the work that needs to be done.

Y’all… this Center is going to be amazingly nice. It will be a place that we can all feel proud about. I am so happy that this is coming together!!!
